Description
This is a self portrait persona I completed by imagining myself inside a lava lamp. Done completely in oil paint on a 18 x 24 stretcher. A surrealistic, dream like idea brought to fruition. I was able to paint myself by setting up a mirror beside my canvas; therefore this completely from life, no photo reference. The limited color palette adds depth and contrast to this piece. It’s vibrancy is wonderful due to the use of pure color.
